Beykent University, Institute of Graduate Studies, Department of Business Administration offers a Non-Thesis Master’s Programme (English) (Distance Education) in Business Management in accordance with the Council of Higher Education’s (YÖK) approval dated ******.

The Programme aims to enable the students who have adopted universal values in business management to achieve their career goals on both national and international levels. It also aims to educate prospective managers and entrepreneurs with self-improvement and analytical thinking skills. The programme offers English-medium instruction.

ADMISSION AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree to apply for the master’s programme. The ALES (Academic Personnel and Graduate Education Exam) is not required for non-thesis master’s degree programmes (The amendment published in the Official Gazette no. 30417 of 10.05.2018).

Applicants must have a score of 55 or above from a central foreign language exam, which must be recognised by the Council of Higher Education and held in a foreign language other than the applicant’s native language, or an equivalent score from an international foreign language exam recognised by the Centre for Assessment, Selection and Placement (ÖSYM). Foreign language proficiency is not required for international applicants who have graduated from an English-medium programme.

Recognition of Prior Learning

In accordance with Article 10 of Beykent University’s Regulation on Graduate Education, students are admitted to the graduate programmes at the Institute through change of major upon Institute Administrative Board’s decision and the head of department’s approval if they meet the requirements set by the Institute Academic Board for change of major. Students submit a letter of application requesting exemption from certain courses at Beykent University's graduate programmes that they have previously taken and passed at another university's graduate programme. Their application for course articulation and transcripts will be evaluated by the Institute Administrative Board and the head of department. The courses students took at a receiving university they attended as part of an exchange programme may be recognised as elective or compulsory courses with approval of the Institute Administrative Board.

DEGREE REQUIREMENTS

Non-thesis: 1 and a half years (maximum 3 terms), 2 terms in 1 year, 15 weeks in 1 term, 90 ECTS in total. Being successful in 10 courses and the term project.

With its strong academic staff, the programme offers education for those who will actively take part in manufacturing and service businesses in both public and private sectors, and allows students to improve their analytical, fast and multi-dimensional thinking abilities, as well as strategic decision-making skills and to develop a global perspective on different matters.

Essential Learning Outcomes

  1. Have knowledge of the theories in business management.
  2. Develop a strategic perspective on business management, and have knowledge of planning-oriented management philosophy.
  3. Have theoretical knowledge to make quick and optimal decisions under changing circumstances.
  4. Consider business activities on a global scale, and add them a global dimension.
  5. Have the knowledge to carry out organisational analysis and design processes, and practice the planning, organising, monitoring and supervising functions of business management.
  6. Gain a perspective to practise the teachings in relation to human resources management, organisational behaviour and change, and information management, all of which are sub-branches of business administration.
  7. Acquire competency in identifying and solving general and functional problems encountered in businesses.
  8. Acquire theoretical and practical proficiency in management to identify problems, put forward arguments, and produce visions on academic and sectoral platforms.
  9. Have knowledge of market research, information systems, consumer behaviour, strategic marketing, global markets, product and service strategies, product life cycle, pricing, and supply chain to ensure business maintenance during the globalisation process.
  10. Gain a perspective to outline a vision, mission, and organisational design of a business in line with its aims, purposes, and resources.
  11. Design optimal business processes in line with the business resources.
  12. Make the necessary changes for the organisational structure under changing conditions.
  13. Create internal and external communication channels, and design an effective and coordinated organisational structure. Understand business management’s role as a discipline, and gain a perspective to carry out academic and interdisciplinary studies.

Career Opportunities

Graduates of the Programme can work as a manager in various management departments of public or private organisations in manufacturing and service businesses.  Stakeholders interacting with the Department of Business Administration can be summarised as private institutions and organisations, various public institutions, organisations, universities, research institutions, and institutes of ministries.

Upward Transfer

In accordance with the Council of Higher Education’s Regulation on Graduate Education and Training dated 20.04.2016, students who have graduated from a non-thesis programme cannot pursue a doctoral degree.
