Beykent University’s Institute of Graduate Studies offers a Non-Thesis Master’s Programme in Business Administration (Distance Learning) in accordance with the Council of Higher Education’s (YÖK) approval dated 05.07.2008. The Programme aims to enable the students who have adopted universal values in Business Administration to achieve their career goals on both national and international levels. It also aims to educate prospective managers and entrepreneurs who have self-renewal and analytical thinking skills.  The Programme offers Turkish-medium instruction.

The ALES (Academic Staff and Postgraduate Education Admission Exam) is not required for non-thesis master’s degree programmes. (The Amendment Published in the Official Gazette No.  30417 of 10.05.2018) To apply for the master’s degree programme, candidates must have a bachelor’s diploma, and provide a copy of ALES (Academic Staff and Postgraduate Education Admission Exam which is administrated centrally by the Centre for Assessment, Selection and Placement) score which must be at least 55 points in the required score type (verbal, quantitative or equal weight) or provide a copy of an equivalent score of Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT), which are internationally recognized by the Council of Higher Education. The Senate will decide how much the ALES scores are taken into consideration during the admission and evaluation processes (The determined percentage will be a minimum of 50%.). However, the Institute may admit students to a master’s degree programme solely based on their ALES scores. The minimum score obtained in an ALES equivalent exam which is recognised by the Council of Higher Education may be increased upon the Senate’s decision.

Recognition of Prior Learning

In accordance with Article 10 of Beykent University’s Regulation on Graduate Education and Training, students are admitted to the programmes at the Institute through change of major upon Institute Administrative Board’s decision, and Head of the Department’s approval if they meet the requirements for change of major which are set out by the Institute Academic Board. Students submit a letter of application through which they request to be exempt from some courses of Beykent University’s graduate programmes which they had taken and passed at their previous university’s graduate programme. Their application concerning course contents and transcripts will be evaluated upon Institute Administrative Board’s decision, and considering the opinion of Head of the Department. Those courses students have taken at the receiving university they attended as part of an exchange programme may be recognised as elective or compulsory courses with the approval of the Institute Administrative Board.

Non-Thesis: 1 and a half years (maximum 3 terms), 2 terms in 1 year, 15 weeks in 1 term, 90 ECTS in total. Being successful in 10 courses and the term project.

The Institute of Graduate Studies’ Non-thesis Master’s Degree Programme in Business Administration offers education with strong academic staff. The Programme is for individuals who will actively take part in manufacturing and service business in public and private sector, and it enables students to improve their analytical, fast and multi-dimensional thinking skills as well as strategic decision-making skills and to approach matters with a global perspective.

Programme Outcomes

Students:

  1. Have knowledge of the theories in business administration. 
  2. Adopt a strategic perspective on business administration, and have knowledge of planning-oriented management philosophy.
  3. Have the theoretical knowledge to make quick and optimal decisions under variable circumstances.
  4. Consider business activities on a global scale, and add them a global dimension. 
  5. Have the knowledge to conduct organisational analysis-making, design-making, and practise the management functions of monitoring and supervision of business administration. 
  6. Gain a perspective to practise the teachings relevant to the fields of human resources management; organisational behaviour, change and information management, sub-branches of business administration. 
  7. Acquire the general and functional competences in identifying and solving problems encountered in businesses.
  8. Acquire proficiency in theories and practices of management to identify problems, put forward arguments, and produce visions on academic and sectoral platforms. 
  9. Have knowledge of market research, information systems, consumer behaviours, strategic marketing, global markets, product and service strategies, product life cycle, pricing, and supply chain to ensure maintenance of business organisations during their globalisation process. 
  10. Gain a perspective to outline a vision, mission, and organisational design of a business in line with its aims, purposes, and resources. 
  11. Design optimal business processes in line with the business resources. 
  12. Make the necessary changes for the organisational structure under changing conditions.
  13. Create communication links inside and outside the business organisation, and design an effective and coordinative organisational structure. 
  14. Understand business administration’s role as a discipline, and gain a perspective to carry out academic and interdisciplinary studies. 

Career Opportunities
Graduates of the Programme can work as a manager in various management departments of public or private organisations in manufacturing and service business.  Stakeholders interacting with the Department of Business Administration can be summarised as private institutions and organisations, various public institutions, organisations, and universities, research institutions, and institutes of ministries. 

Upward Transfer
In accordance with the Council of Higher Education’s Regulation on Graduate Education and Training dated 20.04.2016, students who have graduated from a non-thesis programme cannot pursue a doctoral degree.
